Prospectors pitch new golden plaque idea
PROSPECTORS and Miners Association of Victoria wants to see new marker signs at the sites of Loddon’s biggest gold discoveries.

Glenn Braybrook and Tim Brown have taken their idea to Loddon Shire Council after last year restoring the Welcome Stranger monument at Moliagul.
“Now, our attention has turned to making sure that Rheola, Kingower and the district to get the credit they deserve,” Mr Braybrook said.
Among nugget discovery sites is the Viscount of Canterbury at Rheola, where Solomon Schlossman and John Davis found the 1114 oz on May 31, 1870, at John’s Paddock.
“Some of the biggest gold nuggets in the world were found in this area, and many prospectors from around Australia still go there to try their luck,” he said.
“It’s still early days but we hope to continue working with Loddon Shire to make the project happen this year.”
