Prices for sheep and lambs as numbers ease
NUMBERS eased slightly to 31,514 yarded at Bendigo on Monday, made up of 21,840 lambs and 9670 sheep.

Quality was very good over the lead run of new season lambs, however there wasn’t as much weight penned this week and lambs are drying off in the skins.
Most of the usual buying group were on the rail, the market opened softer, with bidding fluctuating throughout the sale, with the market ending slightly cheaper across the yarding.
Heavy lambs slipped $5, heavy trade sold firm to $4 cheaper, while the light and medium weights sold to $5/head softer.
Restockers sold from $70 to $173 and feeders made $193 to $270/head.
New season lambs 16 to 20kg sold to the trade $164 to $226, 20 to 24kg made from $212 to $270 and 24 to 26kg made from $254 to $310/head to average 1010c to 1070c/kg cwt.
Heavy export weights made from $275 to 346/head to average 1020 to 1060c/kg.
Old lambs were limited, with less being penned each week. Quality was patchy and sold to a cheaper trend.
Mutton opened $5 to $10 cheaper and softened more towards the end of the mutton sale. Merino ewes made from $94 to $245 to average 680c to 730c, Merino wethers sold from $124 to $203/head to average 720c to 735c/kg cwt.
Crossbred mutton made from $86 to $240/head to average 600c to 700c/kg cwt.
