RIDERS have set off from Bendigo bound for Boulia in Queensland on a special journey honouring the life and legacy of Carter Keeble.

The Postie Bike Ride will take about three weeks, travelling from central Victoria to the heart of outback Queensland raising money for Boort District Hospital.

The group had its first stop in Boort on Monday lunchtime to thank local supporters. In the group is Wedderburn’s Owen Rule who said he had jumped at the opportunity to honour Carter and dust off one of his old postie bikes.

Carter died in a caravan fire last year, but the kindness, care and happiness he shared during his short life continue to inspire family, friends and the wider community.

His family says the ride has become much more than a fundraiser — it is a celebration of a little boy who left an unforgettable mark.

Carter was only four years old, but his legacy has united people from across communities, with riders, volunteers, businesses and supporters all getting behind the cause.

For Carter’s parents, seeing the support grow has been overwhelming.

“We could not be prouder of what has been built and how much support people and businesses have given us,” said Ben and Lori.

“It’s beyond what we ever thought possible.

“Carter was only three years old but has left a lasting impression in this world in the best way.

“Simply because he was kind, caring and giving to others, it has turned into something incredible even though he isn’t physically with us anymore.

“As parents, this is a proud day for us,” Ben and Lori said.

The riders will spend weeks on the road, covering hundreds of kilometres on their postie bikes as they carry Carter’s story through country towns and communities along the way.

Every kilometre travelled will be a reminder of Carter’s spirit and the generosity inspired by his memory.

The fundraiser will see all proceeds donated to Boort District Hospital, helping support the vital local health service and the families who rely on its care.

Carter’s family said they hoped everyone involved would not only enjoy the journey but also feel proud knowing their support was helping an incredible cause.

The ride stands as a tribute to the values Carter showed throughout his life — kindness, caring for others and bringing people together.
