AUSTRALIAN Electoral Commission will not be visiting hospital and care facilities with mobile polling booths for the May 21 federal election.

The AEC told the Loddon Herald: “We have been working with local and federal health authorities and we will be running mobile voting teams in remote communities and some settings, however we will not have teams visiting hospitals given the COVID environment.

“Those affected can apply for a postal vote to have their say.”

Candidate nominations close today and postal votes are expected to be mailed out from Tuesday.

Applications for postal votes close on May 18.
