Pipes too small at new fire station
PUMPS and tanks have had to be installed at the new Serpentine fire station after builders realised the town water main was too small for connection to a 100mm truck refill pipe.

Department of Justice and Community Safety late Friday confirmed the pipe size issue after brigade volunteers raised concerns that it would be an arduous and long process to refill trucks when told the pipe connection installed was only 35mm
“During construction it was identified the water mains were too small to connect a 100mm pipe,” a spokesperson said.
“The Community Safety Building Authority has been working with local water authorities and a solution was identified as a part of the consultation process.
“As an alternative, pumps and water tanks have been installed at the station for refilling purposes and pump capacity is being increased.”
Construction of the new station is expected to be completed in February.
