NORTH Central sport next winter will be played in Loddon towns every fortnight.
The football, netball and hockey draw received the official tick of clubs at last night’s league annual general meeting.
For a second season, Wedderburn and Boort will play at home on the same weekends in 2024.
The season starts on April 13 - a fortnight after Easter - with Boort on the road in an immediate test for the Pies against this season’s premiers and champions Sea Lake Nandaly.
Wedderburn will debut under new coach Tom Metherell with a trip to Lord Nelson Park, St Arnaud.
The Redbacks have the first home game using the new Donaldson Park facilities the following week when they take on the Tigers.
The Loddon Derby will be the feature of round four on May 4 when the Redbacks and Pies clash at Donaldson Park with the return encounter at Boort Park in July.
A general bye has been included in the draw for May 18 when hockey players will be part of a major state tournament. It is the only general bye for the season.
The league’s Feeny Medal votes will again be counted live after the final home and away round on August 17 with a presentation event the following week.
Meanwhile, the Pies continue to announce a raft of new signings. They have picked up midfielder Nick Whyte from Alice Springs, Wade Broadstock from Colbinabbin, Mitch O’Donoghue from Forest Hill in the Amateurs.
Returning to Boort former Pies’ premiership player James Keeble who has played TAC Cup for Bendigo Pioneers, VFL side Ballarat Roosters Sebastopol in the Ballarat league.
Wedderburn has recruited Zelencich brothers Rich, Tony and Mike who have been playing in the Ballarat, Central Highlands and Maryborough Castlemaine leagues. Tony, who booted 118 goals with Carisbrook last season, has been appointed assistant coach.
