PETER Maher is the odd-job volunteer at Derby Derby Downs Poll Dorset Stud.
It gives the former Serpentine garage owner the chance to continue his hobby of breeding and showing bantam chickens.
Peter, who operated his business at Serpentine for more than 30 years before retiring into Bendigo, travels daily to the local stud near Marong to tend his prize-winning chickens.
A mechanic since he left school at 15, Peter says he enjoys tinkering on jobs around the stud and spending time in his chicken shed.
