Over the Fence

TRADITIONALLY, it’s been a winter habit for more senior residents of the Loddon to head north to warmer climes to escape those frosts. This year, OTF can report there’s been a bit of a trend among the “middle ages” to head far and wide in July. One netball team has lost a key player and family now way up north ... the family negotiating northern floods, the coach looking at how to fly her back for the finals next month.
THE weekend saw a few also settling back into the Aussie winter after their European sojouns. One bloke was adjusting the time clock, literally. He was straight back and thrown into the timekeeper’s box at Boort on Saturday. Not sure whether he adjusted time zones or quarter lengths after being at the Tour de France.
ANOTHER was blaming jet lag for an appalling day on the golf course at Wedderburn. “Only been back in the country 48 hours,” he quipped. Amazing what difference a day can make. The previous day he was runner-up in the tournament. Birdies say he played good.
Why do golfers always carry a spare pair of trousers with them? In case they get a hole in one.
