WHAT interesting messages you receive. That was one observation from Alex at the end of a three-week stint looking after Loddon news while OTF was officially overseas visiting No 1 son. She quickly pointed to a text message received and the photograph of The Oracle surrounded by some “new friends”.

STRIKING a real Village People pose, there he was ... the man with greater knowledge than could every be included in a set of Funk and Wagnells. When told it was The Oracle, Alex burst out laughing. Since found out, so did his real friends when also had the said picture pop up on their phone. The Oracle, for his words of defence, said it was generated with Artificial Intelligence by someone lacking his intellectual prowess.

ONE of the real challenges of the modern world is this AI. So, too, is finding a toilet when a tourist. OTF popped over the the World Heritage city of Tallin - that’s in Estonia as sure The Oracle would know - in a brief stopover back to Australia. Looking to relieve oneself, discovered that toilets at those burger joints need a code. Making inquiries, was told order and eat first and then you’ll get the code. They relented much to OTF relief!

BROUGHT back memories of first OTF trip to the Old Dart back in the 1990s when in London it was 10 p (pence) for a pee.
THERE are parts of France, Germany, Singapore and Turkey, just to name a few, where the practice is commonplace. In Finland and other parts of Scandinavia, not all that long ago you could expect to pay something like $4 a visit.
