
THIS week’s OTF has something of a British flavour - The Editor under supervision of his No 1 son and UK resident is currently having some “coldish” beers, a few drams of whisky and dodging rain that comes before and after every five-minute sunny window. Walking a a shopping street - the Brits call it the High Street - he spotted this ever-so-nice sign. Polite to the point, message still leaves no doubt about where not to park your car. Fluffier than the Aussie version of just No Parking.
SON took dad on the high road, or was that the low road, to Loch Lomond. Overlooking loch (lake) is Ben Nevis and commentary says there are six other mountains of that name in the world, including Tasmania and Australia. The “tack on” island state has finally come into its own as far as the Scots are concerned.
DURING the two-hour boat trip - thankfully got back to shore unlike Gilligan’s three-hour cruise - passed an island inhabited by few people but 50 Australian wallabies. They hopped onto the island back in thje 50s and have kept breeding, The Editor was told.
