Fire brigades in the Loddon are out and about rattling tins in support of the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Brigades including Bridgewater, Inglewood, Tarnagulla and Korong Vale are doing their bit, helped by enthusiast youngsters, some donning special RCH appeal rabbit ears for the day.

And in local hotels, special raffles are running today in support of the appeal with a monster Easter egg prize up for grabs tonight at Victoria Hotel in Pyramid Hill.

Elsewhere in the Loddon, special Good Friday church services have been held and there was an Easter Egg hunt at Bridgewater.

Fish was selling fast at Wedderburn Fish Chips while cafes along the Calder Highway have been busy with hundreds of cars stopping on their journey either north or south.

Highway traffic remains high this afternoon.

This week's Loddon Herald will have coverage of Easter in our local communities.
