INGLEWOOD’S Dani O’Toole won bragging rights over former schoolmate Annie Blow when the Woodies took the A Grade netball clash with Calivil. The coaches played on each other in the centre, with the match a toss-up at half-time, when Inglewood led by two goals in a fierce contest. O’Toole and Blow went to school together at Marist College in Bendigo, and according to Blow they had “a chat about life and how things were going” after the half-time break. The Demons coach said her side tended to have one quarter each week in which their spirits dropped, which was something they were working to eradicate. Inglewood goal shooter Aleisha Shay’s towering height was a huge factor in the result, but Calivil still gave its best player award to her direct opponent Jorja Peace for her unrelenting effort, which included five intercepts. For the Woodies, goal attack Teresa Fitzpatrick again showed the form that saw her win the club best and fairest award last season, while goal defence Casey Zass was also outstanding in a fine first season. The win saw Inglewood remain in fifth place on the ladder, while the Demons sit in seventh. Inglewood travels to Maiden Gully this week, with Calivil at home to bottom Macorna.
