Not a word about helping Loddon Shire tackle the urgent need to upgrade or replace swimming pools more than 60 years old.
Apparently, our communities have had its share of State Government funds over the years and didn’t rate a mention in Tuesday’s State Budget.
Amid projections of state debt hitting $200 billion within three years, it seems the Government has chosen to put what cash is around into sandbagging the regional capitals and around Melbourne. There was decent money for the bigger centres in the marginal Ripon electorate but not for “little” Loddon communities.
Instead current MP Martha Haylett pointed to what had been funded in the past and a few the cost-of-living relief initiatives on the table for Loddon residents and indeed all Victorians.
Major local projects at best may be party campaign promises in the lead up to November’s election. The wait will be longer for the cash we need to flow.
We’re not ungrateful for the past but there remain needs for the future.
