No forward target a loss for Newbridge

That overwhelming advantage in possession translated into just three behinds, while the Blues kicked a goal on one of their rare forays into attack.
The lack of a key forward target after the loss to injury of Brandon Dimech and Billy Schilling made it tough for the Maroons to score, “and that took the wind out of our boys’ sails at quarter-time”, Cordy said.
Half-back Gabe Nevins was a case in point for Inglewood, with his booming kicks frequently breaking the lines, sailing over Newbridge’s half-backs and landing in the laps of Dan Godden and Mischa Fraillon, who kicked seven goals between them.
Bypassing Maroons centre half-back Jon Coe whenever possible was a tactic that worked beautifully, although the veteran was still Newbridge’s best player on the day. Midfielder Liam Marciano was again Inglewood’s best player in what is turning out to be a stellar season.There was some potential good news for the Maroons, with Dimech’s knee injury believed to be PCL damage rather than a torn ACL.
Cordy said the club would discuss trying to find a key forward before transfers close for the season, but he also wanted to acknowledge and back in his young playing group. Newbridge has a bye this week before facing Pyramid Hill, while the Woodies meet Bears Lagoon Serpentine to mark their 150th anniversary.
