THE raffle table at Rheola on Easter Monday had a special “keepsake” prize waiting to be won.

Loddon Shire councillor Nick Angelo crafted a fire pit at Eddington Engineering commemorating the 153rd running of the charity carnival.

“After work one day, I thought there would be nothing better for someone to remember the 2026 carnival than a locally-made fire pit,” he said.

“So I set about constructing the steel pit and cutting out the letters to have something unique and special.”

Nick’s donation one was of many from district residents for the raffle and bazaar stalls.

Carnival president Matt Catto said: “From people like Ron Heenan selling tickets to Nick and so many others donating local produce and products, they all help with the day raising funds for the hospitals in Inglewood and Dunolly.

“The support never ceases to amaze me and there’s always something different being donated. We’ve a great tradition that just keeps evolving,” he said.
