POLICE are investigating damage on Monday at the former Boort Gun Club site.
Detectives on Tuesday scoured the grounds adjoining Lake Boort on Tuesday.
Former club member David Weaver said walls of the clubhouse had been kicked in, a door forced open, clay targets strewn around and a storage container lock tampered with.
The club regularly held clay target shoots attracting up to 30 participants before going into recess about nine years ago. Efforts to find a new location for the club’s shooting range had earlier been unsuccessful.
Cr Weaver said that while the buildings and range had been unused, it was disappointing there had been senseless vandalised that the community would have to pick up the cost.
