TOWNS in the north of the Loddon Shire are preparing ahead of predicted moderate flooding from the Bullock and Bendigo Creeks today and tomorrow.
Sand was delivered to Dingee and Pyramid Hill yesterday and crews have spent the morning filling bags. Local CFA volunteers are delivering bags to properties.
Most of the deliveries at Dingee have been for use on outbuildings. The Western Waranga Channel near Dingee spilled over its banks about midday today.
Margaret Keogh, of Prairie, said on Monday night: "Water is coming across the paddocks in Prairie and the Bullock is starting to spread out."
However, by morning there was good news for the area. "Waters have subsided in this area and the Bullock hasn't spread any further. Some water is partly over the Bendigo-Pyramid Road near the silos but should dry. Next challenge will be the mozzies!" Margaret said.
Some farmers have also constructed gravel levee banks at around their properties.
The current watch and act alert, issued at 3pm Tuesday for Dingee, Prairie, Mitiamo and Pyramid Hill says there will be moderate flooding:
- Significant rainfall occurred over the previous few days in the Bendigo Creek Catchment.
- These floodwaters will move downstream over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- On Tuesday to Wednesday, these floodwaters will affect locations including Tandarra, Dingee, Prairie and Mitiamo.
- On Wednesday to Thursday, these floodwaters is likely to affect locations including Mitiamo, Pyramid Hill and Kow Swamp.
- No further update is scheduled until Thursday

Other road closures, according to VicTraffic
- Bendigo-Pyramid Road closed in both directions between Tandarra-Serpentine Road and Greenhills Road,
- Boort-Wedderburn Road closed between Wedderburn and Korong Vale
Water remains across parts of the Pyramid-Yarraberb road today and care is needed if travelling that road.
