Mural panels tell student stories

STUDENTS have put the finishing touches to their artistic stories at Wedderburn College.
The college’s student support co-ordinator Kerry Walker said students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders had  planned the mural alongside Bendigo-based Aboriginal artist Tobie Cameron.
The college’s 2022 VCAL dux, Crystal Hardiman, who was awarded Bendigo Zonta Club’s first ever award recognising the achievements of indigenous women and girls earlier this year, has also been part of the project.
Their work has seen a water tank facing Hospital Street transformed into a circular mural with each panel telling stories of the students and promoting a safe and inclusive college.
The project has been a collaboration between the college and Northern District Community Health.
Kerry said the mural built on the town’s public art installations - the bird murals and works by Ross Currie.
“This will tie in nicely with other bird murals around the town, once completed,” Kerry said.
