Loddon South group fire brigades are among the latest reinforcements sent to tackling the massive Grampians fire.
Crews from the group that includes Bridgewater, Campbells Forest, Inglewood, Murphys Creek, Newbridge, Powlett, Rheola, and Tarnagulla brigades were dispatched this afternoon with brigades saying their initial meeting point will be at Avoca before deploymen to the fire.
Inglewood tanker and Inglewood FCV along with Rheola tanker 1, Newbridge tanker and Murphys Creek Ttanker as part of Strike Team 2040.
The fire has burnt more than 65,000 hectares in the Grampians and surrounding areas with evavuation orders in place for communities near Ararat - Moyston and Pomonal - and further south the fire is edging towards Willaura, Glenthompson and Dunkeld.
Meanwhile, the State Government has acted fast to trigger emergency assistance support for the fire-hit area in contrast to significantly longer waits a year area when floods hits the Loddon on Christmas Day,
The Government today announced the Australian and Victorian Governments "are supporting communities affected by the recent bushfires with disaster assistance now available under the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
"Support from the Australian and Victorian Governments to Ararat Rural City Council, Macedon Ranges, Northern Grampians and Southern Grampians Shires includes assistance with the establishment and running of emergency relief centres, psychological first aid and council led financial counselling and counter disaster operations (evacuations, cleaning up debris, road closures, establishment of temporary access routes).
"Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) will continue to work with local councils to understand the assistance required to support communities due to these bushfires."
