Farmers juggling sowing, shearing and protests

LODDON farmers are juggling sowing and shearing as many prepare to be in Melbourne tomorrow for the protest against the State Government's new emergency services tax that will see their bill rise 150 per cent.

Organiser of the protest bus leaving Boort, Cleo Lanyon, said seats were still available.

"We're now receiving donations from those unable to travel down to Melbourne for the protest rally. They went to make sure as many people as possible from the area are able to add their voices against this horrible new tax," she said.

Cleo said the bus would be able to make stops in Durham Ox, Jarklin, Serpentine and Bridgewater as it travelled to the protest on the steps of Parliament House starting at 10am.

The bus to the Emergency Services Levy Protest tomorrow has been confirmed and will be leaving Boort at 6am sharp from the Ski Club car park. Seats are still available and are $25 a head

The bus will be back around 3pm,

Pickups will be at Jarklin at 6:25am, Serpentine 6:35am, Campbell’s Forest 6:55am, Allies Hotel 7:05am.

People wanting seats or to make a donation towards the cost of the bus can contact Cleo on 0409 765 271.

A bus organised by the Wedderburn branch of the Victorian Farmers' Federation will start its trip south at 5.30am.

Other Loddon protesters are planning to travel into Melbourne by train, local brigade members have told the Loddon Herald.

At least six Loddon Shire brigades have taken themselves offline since the Government did a deal with the Greens and Animal Justice Party to pass the new tax through Parliament late last week.
