Victoria now needs a major reset of government and how it works for all Victorians, said Murray Plains MP and Nationals leader Peter Walsh following the resignation of Premier Daniel Andrews.
Mr Walsh said
It’s time for a government that governs for the people, by the people.
Daniel Andrews promised to govern for all Victorians and regional Victorians know that has not been the case under the Andrews Labor Government.
Under a new Premier, hospital waiting lists must shorten.
The crumbling roads must be repaired.
A solution for the housing crisis that is affecting so many across the state must be implemented.
The cost of energy is out of control, and must be reeled in as ideological decisions are contributing to so much cost-of-living pain.
Victorians accept a transition to renewable energy is under way, but towering power lines running through farmland is not the way to do it.
Our Country Fire Authority, as we once knew it, has been destroyed. Labor must not cave into the unions and it must be revived with a potentially dangerous bushfire season looming.
It’s time for the next Premier to go back to the drawing board. They must govern for all Victorians and start making sensible decisions that deliver beneficial outcomes for regional Victorian families.
