Wedderburn Historical Record Museum president Daryl Arnott and secretary Alan Mulraney installed the bronze plaque in time for Remembrance Day on Tuesday.

The plaque records the names of 17 men who saw service in Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. Among them is Lee Webb, a Vietnam War veteran, who later held senior positions in the Victorian branch of the RSL.

Mr Arnott said a QR code below the plaque would take people to a slideshow honouring the servicemen and explaining Australia’s involvement in the wars since World War Two.

A second plaque honours the role of horses in World War One. Mr Arnott said many of the “walers” had come from the Wedderburn district.

An estimated 120,000 horses were shipped overseas and used by troops for transport and hauling supplies.

Just one returned to Australia after the Armistice took effect on November 11, 1918, when guns fell silent on the Western Front and World War One fighting ended.
