A NEW carer respite program is expected to launch across the Loddon Shire within a fortnight.
Mind Australia said respite and support services for local carers of people with mental ill-health was part of a package announced by the State Government.
Leader practitioner for the the group’s Loddon Shire services, Debra Budde: “There are a lot of people who need the services, the support ... carers that are stretched to capacity.”
Mind Australia said it would deliver a series of carer support groups in Loddon Shire that would provide opportunities for carers to strengthen their capabilities in their caring role.
It said carers would also form important support networks with other carers in their area, helping to overcome common issues such as isolation.
