A COALITION government will secure the future of Victoria’s neighbourhood houses recurrent funding, said Ripon MP Louise Staley.
Ms Staley said the Coalition’s pre-election commitment if elected in November would end the uncertainty created in the sector.
“In 2018, after a significant campaign by the sector, which was supported the Liberals and Nationals, additional funding ($5.4 million a year) was provided to Neighbourhood Houses Victoria. Everyone who received this funding believed it was recurrent and utilised it for core services and purposes for their communities,” Ms Staley said.
“I have had contact with many neighbourhood houses in Ripon, who have faced significant uncertainty due to Daniel Andrews’ unwillingness to make new funding for Neighbourhood Houses recurrent.
“Neighbourhood Houses provide a vital community service and important way for the community to come together.”
