MURRAY Plains MP Peter Walsh has retained his seat and lead the National Party to the Coalition’s bright side of the state election.

Mr Walsh was elected for a sixth time to represent the area and will enter his third decade in State Parliament with a virtually unchanged margin.

The Nationals are also expected to reclaim the seats of Mildura (now including Charlton), Shepparton and Morwell that had been held by independents.
