MOSQUITOES have been trapped for testing and public areas sprayed after confirmation of a Japanese encephalitis site at Bridgewater.

Spraying started last Thursday and some sites on Tuesday received a second treatment.

Loddon Shire CEO Lincoln Fitzgerald said council had been requested by the Health Department to start spraying public areas within 5km of Bridgewater.

“There is a known infection near Bridgewater (a non-commercial site) and Loddon Shire has been requested to undertake a number of activities on behalf of the department to support community health protection through prevention,” he said
