Nathan Dennis has won the club’s singles championship and mother Lois the ladies’ title.

Lois produced one of the standout performances of the event, overpowering long-time club champion Coral Maxted in a decisive 25–8 victory.

Despite the margin, she said the contest was far tougher than it appeared.

“It was a tough battle that wasn’t shown on the scorecard, with both bowlers scoring a lot of singleshot ends,” Lois reflected.

She said It took grit and consistency to gain control, grinding out the pace and shutting down any momentum Coral tried to build.

On the men’s side, Nathan continued the family’s great run with a strong 25–15 win over Ron Lourie. After bursting out to an early lead, he held firm as Lourie attempted to claw his way back.

“Nathan was on early, and I couldn’t peg him back,” Lourie admitted after the match.

But Nathan’s victory carried even greater significance. He became a third generation Calivil Bowling Club Champion, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Frank Guthrie (1984), uncle Colin Guthrie (1992), and this year mother Lois.

“It’s bloody amazing. It took me a few runners-up, but to finally hear that I’m a third generation champion — is truly an honour,” Nathan said.

Lois, already celebrating her own title, spoke proudly about the family milestone.

“I’m immensely proud of Nathan to now win one too. I’ve seen how close he’s been, and I’ve always known he had it in him. Wow.”

The dual triumph has sparked excitement across the club, with members recognising the significance of a mother-son championship sweep and the rarity of a legacy stretching across three generations. President Glenn Ray said: “It’s a moment where everything comes together — the tradition, the family pride, and what this club is all about.”
