Minister leaves station unopened
HEALTH and Ambulance Services Minister Mary-Anne Thomas has quit cabinet ahead of retiring at November’s state election without officially opening the Inglewood ambulance station.
HEALTH and Ambulance Services Minister Mary-Anne Thomas has quit cabinet ahead of retiring at November’s state election without officially opening the Inglewood ambulance station.
The station was completed more than two years ago but surrounded in controversy when the community protested against demolition of the former station that the Government initially said contained asbestos but later reports did not confirm.
Ms Thomas last week toured some health services in the Ripon electorate but did not visit Inglewood where work is nearing completion on upgrades to the hospital’s urgent care ward.
Ambulance Victoria last month pulled out of building an ambulance station in Wedderburn.
Ripon MP Martha Haylett in Parliament last May invited Ms Thomas to visit the electorate to inspect new health facilities completed and Wedderburn where a new station would be built “very soon as well.”
