Mineral milling plant floating new process
NEW floatation equipment to be used in pyrite processing is expected to be installed at Wedderburn Milling Facility next week.

The milling facility is operating on the site of the old the Hit and Miss. The mine and processing site has been active since the 1960 and in the 1980s held the title of the state’s largest open pit gold mine.
Core Prospecting’s Toby Houldsworth said commissioning of the flotation circuit would improved processes at the facility.
“Last year the current 42,000TPA processing plant began construction and the crushing, grinding and gravity circuit commissioned July 2025,” Mr Houldsworth said.
“The latest workplan ... was stamped approved in mid-2025, an approval journey that started in 2018. The site now includes the approval for toll milling, floatation recovery and a large dry stack tails facility.”
Mr Houldsworth said gold production from the site itself over two decades from the 1960s had been small in commercial context.
Wedderburn’s Terry Frerk has been involved in mining and processing at the site since 1999 and continues with Core.
