MICHAEL Rose strode onto the oval at Kingower on Saturday morning to start his 50th season of involvement in the Upper Loddon Cricket Association.

The cricketing veteran now in his 33rd year as association secretary had just overseen the election of junior team leaders for Kingower at the ground he calls the most picturesque in Australia.

It’s the ground where Michael first played in 1971 after moving to Inglewood from Melbourne.

And in the half-century that has followed, Michael has not missed being at an Upper Loddon game.
