Mayor recovering at home after surgery

LODDON Mayor Gavan Holt returned home Friday afternoon following surgery in Bendigo.
Cr Holt said he had been in intensive care while doctors treated his sudden illness. He also developed pneumonia.
He told the Loddon Herald doctors had instructed to rest from official duties for at least another week.
“The doctors, surgeon, nurses and all staff at St John of God have been wonderful over the past three weeks,” Cr Holt said.
“I am disappointed that this sudden trip to hospital precluded me from chairing our first council meeting of the year and also presenting the Australia Day citizen awards.”
Cr Holt said he would be following doctors’ orders before returning to work on his farm and undertaking council duties.
“Things were quite serious and it’s been a rough few weeks.”
