Mayor election date set

Loddon Shire will formally elect its next mayor on November 8.

This week's council meeting went "in camera" to discuss a date for the formal election of mayor.

Councillors are expected to meet before November 8 to decide who will be the shire leader for the next 12 months.

Cr Dan Straub is coming to the end of his first term as mayor.

It is not known if Cr Straub will seek a second term or if other councillors are vying for the position.

Of the remaining four councillors, Cr Gavan Holt and Cr Neil Beattie have previously served in the role.
