WorkSafe has this afternoon saida 68-year-old quarry operatordied after being crushed under the back wheels of a prime mover at Mitiamo yesterday.
In a statement, WorkSafe said: "It is believed the sole trader was working under the truck which was attached to a trailer when it rolled backwards, crushing him and dragging him about 40 metres before he was found about 10.20am.WorkSafe is investigating.The death is the 18th confirmed workplace fatality for 2025. There were 24 work-related deaths at the same time last year."

VICTORIA Police has confirmed a man in his 60s has died in an incident at Mitiamo this morning.
Police said theyattended a property on O’Brien Street in Mitiamo following reports of a work place incident about 10.30am.
"Sadly a man aged in his 60s died at the scene.Officers will assist WorkSafe in relation to the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner," police said.
Police, fire brigades and ambulances were at the scene. An air ambulance landed near the grain silos about 10.55am.
