ROUND two two of Upper Loddon junior cricket was the first of the one day fixtures.
Boort-Yando remains the only unbeaten team after accounting for Kingower, while Bridgewater had a comfortable win over Wedderburn.
Boort-Yando batted first after winning the toss against Kingower and Harry Malone again got the innings off to a brisk start, hitting two sixes and three boundaries before retiring on 33.
Useful contributions were made by Lachlan Hall, Cooper Gooding, Owen Byrne and Tristan Zanker to help push Boort-Yando’s final total out to 5/110.
Exchange student Frederik Gjroup, after playing his first game of cricket last week and taking three wickets, hit his first runs much to the delight of his team mates.
Ryder Smith was the pick of the Kingower bowlers, sending down five tidy overs, conceding just seven runs as well as picking up a wicket.
Kingower in reply, struggled to get any real momentum going in their innings with Morgan Lonza their most impressive batsman scoring 13 runs before retiring. Kingower ended the day at 6/47 with Sam Toose the most successful of the Boort-Yando bowlers by claiming three wickets.
Wedderburn travelled to Bridgewater with the home team batting first.
Lewis Lonsdale and Flynn Lock put Bridgewater on the path to a big total with Lock retiring on 32, while Lonsdale was dismissed for 28. Mitchell Whitton also gave good support with an innings of 17 retired in Bridgewater’s final total of two for 126. Edwin Sellick and Aaron Thomas took the two wickets to fall.
Wedderburn in reply fared much better this week, batting out time to finish with a total of 7/36. Shelby Giorlando and Sellick made a useful start and kept the bowling at bay for eight overs before Sellick was bowled by Xavier Power.
Connor Alexander took the last three wickets to take bowling honours for Bridgewater and he completed a good day by also taking the catch to dismiss Giorlando.
