ARTIST and Royal Australian Navy veteran Mal Gilmour was so incensed last week with a politician removing the Australian flag, that he wasted no time returning fire with a volley of his own.
The renowned Inglewood landscape artist with a world-wide following took to social media, sharing a favourite photograph in his side yard, Australian flag flying atop the mast.
Mal was aghast that Greens leader Adam Bandt had called the Australian flag “divisive” and had it taken away from a media conference backdrop.
“One of the first duties I had after enlistment in the Royal Australian Navy was raising the flag every day with the whole depot watching to make sure I did it right,” Mal said.
