The Loddon River has swelled above the major flooding level as multiple road closures remain in place across the Loddon.

Bureau of Meteorology said this morning that rainfall since Thursday afternoon has caused strong river level rises along the Loddon River upstream of Cairn Curran Reservoir and in the tributaries of the Loddon River. Rainfall has now eased, however elevated river levels and flooding will continue as floodwaters move through the catchment.

Major flooding is occurring along the Loddon River at downstream Laanecoorie Reservoir.

Major flooding has eased at Downstream Cairn Curran Reservoir, with minor flooding occurring Saturday morning.

Loddon River at downstream Loddon Weir is around the moderate flood level and minor flooding is continuing along the Loddon River at Appin South.

Moderate flooding has eased at Bet Bet and Minor flooding has eased at Newstead.

In the 24 hours to 7:00 am Saturday, widespread rainfall totals of 10-15 mm have been observed across the Loddon River catchment, with an isolated higher total of 32 mm at Bung Bong. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday.

Goulburn Murray Water advise that Laanecoorie and Tullaroop Reservoirs are spilling.

Loddon River upstream of Laanecoorie: Minor flooding is occurring at Bet Bet and along the Loddon River upstream of Laanecoorie.

The Loddon River Downstream Cairn Curran Reservoir is currently at 3.28 metres and steady, with minor flooding. The Loddon River Downstream Cairn Curran Reservoir is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) Saturday morning.

Loddon River Laanecoorie to Loddon Weir: Major flooding is occurring along the Loddon River Laanecoorie to Loddon Weir.

The Loddon River Downstream Laanecoorie is currently peaking around 5.64 metres, with major flooding. The Loddon River Downstream Laanecoorie is expected to remain above the major flood level (5.50 m) Saturday morning.
