Maiden Gully's push to have an under 18 side in the Bendigo Football League has been rejected by AFL Central Victoria commissioners.

The commission met on Thursday and backed the Loddon Valley league appeal against the Eagles move that would have seen them with football sides in two competitions.

Loddon Valley's appeal was backed by all other eight clubs.

Maiden Gully has stood out of junior football for two seasons. Last year the Eagles made a bids to switch to the Heathcote league for 2023 and promising to field an under 18 side and after being refused entry as a club again into Heathcote league earlier the year, launched the Bendigo junior bid.

Loddon Valley holds its annual meeting on Monday night and it is understood Maiden Gully will be told the club expects the Eagles to field an under 18 side in the local junior competition.

Newbridge and Serpentine are bothlooking to a return to junior ranks after Pyramid Hill made a comeback this season.

If Maiden Gully did switch its energies to fielding a Loddon Valley under 18 team, there could be seven sides in the under 18 competition.
