Magic thousand in sight
MITIAMO is within touching distance of scoring 1000 goals for the season after a big win over Inglewood in A Grade netball.

MITIAMO is within touching distance of scoring 1000 goals for the season after a big win over Inglewood in A Grade netball.
The Superoos are on 997 goals after shooting 70 against the Woodies, who are being pressed by Pyramid Hill for fifth spot and a place in the finals.
Inglewood’s patchy season continued, with the team managing only 27 goals on their home court against the two-time premiers.
However, after a winless 2025, just to be in the battle for the finals is a major achievement for the Blues.
The remorseless Superoos added 33 goals to 11 in the second half as they asserted their dominance.
With top spot and a week off at the start of the finals guaranteed, coach Jen Wilson will organise a practice match to keep her side fit and firing.
Star goaler Laura Hicks returned from holidays against the Blues and slotted back into the side seamlessly. Goal keeper Jayne Norton and wing attack Alicia Hay were the Superoos’ best players.
NEWBRIDGE’S comfortable win over bottom of the ladder Macorna sees the Maroons settled in third spot on the table, six points ahead of Marong and Inglewood in the battle for the double chance.
The young Tigers were competitive in patches but were ultimately outclassed, scoring just 12 goals to the main break before an improved second half.
Leah Oxford’s excellent season continued in her goal defence role for Newbridge, and she was well supported by wing defence Jemma Gordon.
Veteran Laura Bennie (GK) and Hannah Dee (GA) were best for Macorna, still to bring up a win for the season.
The Maroons face three sides chasing them on the ladder after this week’s clash with Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
They will meet Marong, Inglewood and Pyramid Hill to close out the home and away season.
MAIDEN Gully climbed above Bears Lagoon Serpentine after a 19-goal win at Marist College.
The Eagles now sit eighth on the ladder, narrowly ahead of the Bears on percentage, with both sides out of finals contention on 3-11 records.
Maiden Gully’s early lead was improved upon in every quarter, with the injury-hit Bears unable to bridge the gap. Without former Rising Star Ava Francis in the scoring ring, Serp struggled for goals against a tight Maiden Gully defensive set up.
Eagles coach Christie Griffiths said the performance was the team’s most consistent for the season.
The side built on the momentum gained from a strong second half against all-conquering Mitiamo a week earlier in which the Superoos only outscored them by nine goals.
