THE first edition of the Loddon Herald was published on January 28, 2021, once more ensuring our local communitities had a local newspaper. Each week we will look back at what was news five years ago.

THE HISTORIC Catto Lodge at Melville Caves will be retained when Kooyoora State Park is redeveloped. Weekend talks between the Catto family, community and Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation secured the 65-year-old pavilion’s future. Earlier plans to demolish the lodge had angered the local community and Catto family descendants.

NEWBRIDGE Football Netball Club has made one of the fastest sales of a hotel leasehold. The club offered the lease on the town’s pub late last week and wthin 48 hours announced it had been sold.

AUSTRALIA’S international price competiveness could cap off a good season for local farmers.
