MORE than 170 Loddon residents became the latest Victorians to receive free skin cancer checks.

The Lions V District Cancer Foundation van performed screenings over two days.

“There have been more than 8000 screenings in the last five years and of those, 37 per cent have been referred for treatment,” said Inglewood club president Robert Condliffe.

“We originally had more than 140 people booked in for the weekend but the efficiency of the testing team meant we created slots for those on the waiting list to also be screened.”

Mr Condliffee said volunteers were provided with lunches by Cafe 3517 and Inglewood and Districts Health Service.

Inglewood Lions are planning a return visit to Loddon communities by the van this year.
