Sir, The fact that unacceptable levels of lead have been found in our ducks has to be the nail in the coffin for recreational native bird shooting in Victoria (Loddon Herald August 11).
Can you believe it is still legal to use lead shot to shoot little native quail birds.
I don’t know how the hunters pick all the lead fragments out of the poor little birds before they supposedly eat them, or does it go right through their bodies and spread into the environment?
Raptor birds cleaning up the carnage are poisoned too.
No one wants this cruel activity and poisoning of the environment to continue except a handful of shooters.
Why are the politicians scared of them? Because they have guns? Yeah me too.
