FREE information will be available to Loddon residents when Mallee Family Care’s community legal centre travels the region during Victorian Law Week.
One of four sessions will be in Boort offering practical, easy-to- understand information to help people better navigate everyday legal issues.
From challenges with housing, employment, finances or family matters, to planning ahead for the future, Mallee Family Care says the sessions are designed for people without a legal background and provide a welcoming
space to ask questions and learn more about available support services.
CEO Teresa Jayet said the initiative is about making the law more accessible for everyone.
“Legal problems can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure where to start,” she said.
“These sessions are designed to break things down, provide clear information, and connect people with the help they need.”
Ms Jayet said the agency had partnered with local service providers to bring free legal information sessions to settings where community members meet and gather during Law Week.
“We’re grateful to Swan Hill Regional Library, Northern District Community Health and Boort District Health for supporting these events and our efforts to provide free legal services across the region.”
“Staff from our Community Legal Centre will be available and attendees can also take the opportunity to complete a free Legal Health Check to help identify any legal issues they may be experiencing,” Ms Jayet said.
Meanwhile, Mallee Family Care has expressed disappointment with the State Budget, saying it falls well short of what is needed to address the entrenched and growing disadvantage faced by communities, lacking the vision, ambition and structural investment improve the lives of people.
