Landowners have rights too, says wind farm opponent
AMONG protestors standing with the Fentons on Monday was Mincha West’s Tara Hammett who is opposing plans for a wind factory in the district.

Chanting ‘no access”, Tara said that continued pressure from government agencies “to remind us landholders that our rights to safe unhindered enjoyment of our own land is only at the behest of Big Gov and that grace period is over for all in the track of VNI West is distressing and concerning”.
“For those who counter farmer anger with the need for public good over individual rights, please pause. If it happens to us, it could happen to you.
“The public is, always will be, a collection of individuals. Each and every one must enjoy their rights fully or no one does, eventually.
“And this mindset has spilled over into the approach taken by renewable developers. We, the local community are referred to as visitors by CEOs of foreign owned companies.
“We are told by representatives that we must hear their side of the story. The only appropriate response is no thank you, you are not wanted here. Your side of the story has no place here nor indeed anywhere.”
She claims that renewable energy companies are “paying lip service to community engagement is patently obvious”.
“We see your lack of transparency, the attempts to keep information sequestered, playing one community member off against another, the evasions and dare I say it, misinformation. We see you.
“Developers ... you have underestimated the fire and determination of rural.people. You have overestimated the acceptance of renewables or maybe you thought we would be apathetic.
“I am here today to tell you, we are resolved to do all within our powers to keep you from ruining more of our beautiful landscapes and from contributing any more to the financial ruin of our nation through the proliferation of this grift on Australia’s taxpayer monies,” Tara said.
