Just three of VRET2 projects underway
DELAYS in building and connecting some Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET2) scheme projects had been unavoidable, the State Government claimed this week.

Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio in October 2022 announced six successful projects, including the Derby solar farm.
But three years later, only two are operational - Glenrowan Solar Farm, Horsham Solar Farm and battery - while construction has started on Fulham Solar Farm
Loddon Herald inquiries to the State Government on Monday saw a response that “the VRET2 projects are currently at various stages, including pre-construction, construction and operations”.
“There has been a significant change in development conditions for renewable energy projects across Australia and globally. In some cases, this has resulted in unavoidable project delays, including for some VRET2 projects.”
Asked whether companies in the VRET process faced penalties for not meeting construction and connection targets, the Loddon Herald was told:
“Information in relation to specific project development and contractual matters for individual projects is commercial-in-confidence.”
