PYRAMID Hill is getting close to full strength with finals approaching, and a 103-point win over Mitiamo highlighted that the Bulldogs can’t be left out of the premiership equation.

Jhye Baddeley-Kelly left Superoo defenders in his wake on his way to 17 goals, taking him to 87 for the season.

With at least five games left for Pyramid Hill, he will almost certainly join Bridgewater’s Lachie Sharp in kicking 100 goals in the home and away season.

Badelley-Kelly has feasted on the smaller fry of the Loddon Valley – 17 and 14 against Mitiamo, 12 and nine against Calivil – but has sometimes struggled against the better teams.

He kicked nine against Inglewood the second time around but kicked none against top side Bridgewater in round 11 and one against Marong two weeks later.

If he can start to fire consistently against the best in the competition, the Dogs will be a tough prospect in the finals given the imminent return of several stars.

Isaac Brill will be back this week, with fellow star midfielder James Sala set to return against Macorna in round 17, both having spent a month travelling in Europe during the season.

Veteran defender Gavin James was rested last week but will play against Bears Lagoon Serpentine on Saturday along with ruckman Tom Downie.

Coach Jarrod Fitzpatrick is one of the team’s few worries with a knee injury and it still awaiting the result of scans, but he is hopeful of a return before the finals.

Fitzpatrick will have another issue to juggle when all his squad is fit – squeezing them in under the points cap.

“We’ve got a bit to weigh up but it’s a good position to be in,” he said.

“We just need to make sure to get them all on the park, with all the Darwin boys back for Macorna and Newbridge.”

Without coach Luke Lougoon playing Mitiamo was always going to be under the pump, and a seven-goal deficit at quarter-time was a disappointing opening.

A five-goal last term trimmed the margin narrowly, giving the home fans something to celebrate.

The Superoos face Bridgewater this week and will be hoping to minimise the damage against the flag favourites.
