Campbell lined up for Wedderburn on Saturday for the first time since the 2024 North Central preliminary final against Sea Lake Nandaly before switching to Sandhurst in the Bendigo league.
The forward, who kicked one goal in Saturday’s return, said: “It’s terrfic to be back ... I’m home.”
Campbell came up through Wedderburn’s junior sides, playing his first game in 2011.
In 2016 and 2017, he juggled commitments between Wedderburn and Bendigo Pioneers.
After a year with Moama in the Murray league, he returned to Wedderburn in 2019. Campbell’s recent seasons at Donaldson Park saw him a key target in the forward zone with strong leads and kicking accuracy greeted with cheers from parochial crowds.
With Matt Perri out again at the weekend, Campbell was one of nine Redbacks kicking goals.
