THE symbolic final year top of VCE students has a unique design for this year’s Wedderburn College cohort.
Former student and indigenous artist Rebecca Wearne was asked to create a special piece of art for the “23” on their tops.
Student Neve Nisbet said the college had 21 per cent of its students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander.
“Recognising indigenous culture is a big part of the school and through (student support officer) Kerry Walker we made contact with Rebecca to come up with a special design,” said Neve.
“We then worked with the manufacturer to accurately have Rebecca’s design and its colours included on our tops. The design has been really popular among all 12 VCE students and also with teachers who have ordered a top.”
Rebecca’s design has also been framed and hangs in the VCE room.
