INGLEWOOD survived a tight battle with Calivil to maintain momentum on the run to the finals.

The Demons have improved steadily through what is seen by coach Annie Blow as a development season, and they took it up to the fifth-placed Blues from the start. The second quarter was the difference, with Inglewood outscoring the Demons by 10 goals on the way to an eventual eight-goal win.

Coach and centre Danielle O’Toole was her usual dynamic self, and consistent goal attack Teresa Fitzpatrick, last season’s best and fairest winner, was also prominent for the Woodies. After a winless 2025, Inglewood’s A Grade resurgence has been one of the stories of the season.

Blow said a lapse early in the second quarter cost her side dearly, but she was impressed how goalkeeper Molly Maher battled and overcame towering Inglewood goaler Aleisha Shay.

“Our girls are improving every week,” she said.

“They take on everything I’m giving them and always want more, and they’re always trying to better themselves.”

NEWBRIDGE kept up the press1ure on Bridgewater in the race for second place with a strong win over a struggling Bears Lagoon Serpentine.

With the Mean Machine up against Mitiamo this week, a loss for them and a win by the Maroons over Marong would see them switch spots on the ladder.

With star Bears shooter Ava Francis still sidelined, the strong Newbridge defence was able to control the ball and constantly feed the mid-court players.

Leah Oxford continued her excellent form at goal defence, while wing defence Lauren Knight was also outstanding in the 30-goal win.

The Maroons have a very settled side as the finals approach, and they will want to continue their momentum with a win over Marong at Riverside Oval.

+ MARONG held firmly onto fourth spot on the ladder with a big win over Macorna, which is yet to break its duck in the Loddon Valley competition.

The Tigers’ inability to compile decent scores has been a familiar issue all season, and they could manage only 25 goals against the Panthers. Marong piled on the goals after quarter time, outscoring Macorna 46-18.
