FORMER Rheola Fire Brigade volunteer Greg Leach has been awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Greg, who started his fire fighting career at Rheola, is Queensland Fire and Emergency Services commissioner after previously holding positions with the Country Fire Authority and Ambulance Victoria.
His awarded is for an exemplary contribution to the Victorian and Queensland community across his extensive firefighting career, spanning 35 years.
The citation says Greg has demonstrated leadership and the ability to positively influence, as evidenced by the ongoing change and use of new technologies and innovation.
