History makers the first in three-way monthly honours
THE Loddon Herald Sports Star of the Year award has seen three outstanding local achievements share the February monthly honours.

Rally car driver Brendan Reeves, junior water skier Harry Kilby and lawn bowler Geoff Wilson are now in the running for the annual award.
For Reeves and Kilby, it is the first time they have been awarded monthly honours.
Wilson, a former national arm bowl champion, was a monthly winner in the 2024.
Reeves last month became the third in his family to win the Victorian 2WD Rally Championship.
His name its now etched in motor racing history alongside father Mike and brother Nathan after being awarded the title.
Brendan, 37, was presented with his award along with co-driver Aidan O’Halloran.
Reeves’ state title success was set up with four early season victories.
Bridgewater’s Harry Kilby brought home the Under 14 ski jumping gold medal from the annual Aussie Kiwi Challenge held in New Zealand.
His win with a jump of 27.9 metres was part of an outstanding tournament for the youngster that included personal bests.
Kilby was also a key member of the Bridgewater junior cricket team that made the Upper Loddon association grand final.
Wilson added the Bendigo Playing Area Champion of Champions trophy last month, earning his spot in the major event after taking out the Inglewood club championship.
He has been part of victorious Victorian teams at national arm bowls championships.
Wilson’s first-ever champion of champions title came was won at Moama after wet weather caused havoc for organisers and the scheduled playoff in Bendigo had to be relocated.
The latest three monthly winners join others now vying for the Loddon’s premier individual sports award.
October: Boort Yando cricket captain Josh Smith who set up what has been a stellar season so far when he hit
92 not out in the opening Upper Loddon association round, a T20 encounter.
November: Wedderburn hockey star Shelby Giorlando who was selected in the Australian country under 21 side.
December: Boort Yando junior cricketer Cooper Gooding went to the Christmas break in super form, hitting 53 off just 39 balls.
January: Wedderburn’s Ben and Ollie Huismann who coached the Maryborough Blazers under 16 basketball side to victory at the 2026 Portland Aluminium Southwest Classic Division 1 Championship.
